If you were to just read the 2 ½ page Preface, which introduces the goal of this book, you would be richer for the experience. Ian Craig and Rachel Jesson put eating into perspective. They remind us of the importance of using our intuition when eating, rather than relying on what we are told we should eat.  Their goal is “to challenge the extreme dietary approaches that have become popular in South Africa and to educate readers towards a more balanced point of view, with the ultimate goal of good health.”

This is an easy read, filled with scientific facts and sincerity.

MORE ABOUT THE AUTHORS

IAN CRAIG (BSc MSc, CSCS, INLPTA) is an exercise physiologist, nutritional therapist, NLP practitioner and a lifestyle coach who specialises in functional nutrition, a fast-evolving discipline that considers both health and performance of an individual from an integrative health perspective. He is the editor of two UK nutrition magazines and writes for several South African publications. He is a member of the South African Association of Nutritional Therapists (SAANT) and runs a private nutrition practice in Johannesburg.

RACHEL JESSON (BPhys Ed (Hons), MPhil) is a trained teacher and holds a Masters degree in Sports Science and Psychology. She is also an NLP practitioner. As a former South African triathlete, her passion lies in food, health and physical fitness. She is a raw food teacher and specialises in practical and extremely healthy meal and snack options for athletes, active people and those who want to be healthy. She writes a regular recipe column for Total Sports Nutrition and contributes to the international publications Functional Sports Nutrition and Outdoor Enthusiast.
